New fiction imprint JUMPING FISH acquires books from British, American and Indian authors

Peak Platform is pleased to announce the acquistion of new titles to be published under it's new fiction imprint, 'Jumping Fish', in the Spring of 2010.

'Dead Head' by Chris F Coley, 'It's Just Not Village Cricket' by Philip Algar, 'Not Quite There' by Zoe Speakman and 'Boji' by Robert Alan-Haven, Selected stories by the Indian award winning author, Bolwar Mahamad Kunhi, 'Last Cheaters Waltz' by US author Kay Rutherford and 'The Lethe Fund' by John Butcher have all been acquired by Jumping Fish with world rights.

'Dead Head' is a story of an assistant head-teacher who is overlooked for promotion when a new super-head is brought in to replace the retired head. It is a very funny story, often hilariously so and teachers everywhere will recognise many of the incidents that occur in the story. Dead Head is part of a three book deal with Chris F Coley who is the author of other published books. He is a former head-teacher himself and so knows his subject well. He has now semi-retired from teaching to concentrate on his new career in writing.

'It's Just Not Village Cricket' by Philip Algar is a satire on village life, set in the fictional village of Woodfield Magna, in rural England. 'It's Just Not Village Cricket' is part of a 2 book deal set in the village of Woodfield magna. The picturesque rural village of Woodfield Magna, some 50 miles from London, has changed little over the centuries. The story is told through some of the leading locals and their complicated relationships and takes in aspects of village life, including the all-important local cricket team which, unknowingly, could have a key role in determining Woodfield’s future.

'Not Quite There ' is Zoe Speakman's first book and tells a story of a Newly Qualified Teacher. Zoe Speakman is a teacher herself and this is a 2 book deal.

'Boji' is an analogy and a wonderful story of a dolphin told in the first person through the dolphin himself. The first book tells of Boji's growing up years and his struggle to find his own identity and independence. Boji is the first of a three book series about Boji acquired from Robert Alan-Haven. Robert Alan-Haven is a published author and recently moved to the Peak District to concentrate on his writing.

'Selected Short Stories of Bolwar Mahamad Kunhi' is by the Indian award winning writer originally written in Kannada, the language of Karnataka, a South Indian state and translated into English by Professor Vimala Rao.

Sridhar Gowda who acquired the book directly from the author said, ‘I am delighted to be publishing one of the best writers from this region. Bolwar has been a pioneer in introducing Muslim culture to creative Kannada prose since 1970 and it is well past time for his work to reach a wider audience’.

'Last Cheater's Waltz' by Dr Kay Rutherford is the No.1 survival guide for the jagged healing process following betrayal, infidelity, deception and abuse. Her gripping vignettes will pull on your heart strings; her story is real, comforting and valid. This is a must for almost anyone dealing with a broken relationship.

'The Lethe Fund' by John Butcher is a Detective thriller, set in the world of international finance. There are times when ordinary people are called upon to do extraordinary things. That time has come in the life of Tommy Devonshire, a thirty-five-year-old journalist working for a financial publication on London's Haymarket. The Lethe Fund is the first of a 2 book deal with John.

John Butcher is currently a freelance journalist. He has worked in Beijing, England, The U.S., The Bahamas and Costa Rica on a range of publications and spent around eight years working as an international financial journalist in London and New York.
